APPT Cebu Sees Martins Crush Day 1b

Nível 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Day 1b chip leader, Antonio Martins
Day 1b chip leader, Antonio Martins

It’s all over here on Day 1b of the APPT Cebu Main Event from the Waterfront Hotel and Casino, with Antonio Martins well and truly the chip leader.

When the day started there were 76 players vying for a Day 2 berth. That field made to easily surpass yesterday’s 51 entrants and brings the total so far to 128 players.

Of the 76 who began with hopes of making Day 2, only 42 will return with the chance at making a run at a title. Some of those who couldn’t survive the day include Minh Nguyen, Ari Engel and Jay Tan.

As alluded to earlier, Martins is easily the chip leader, managing to bag up 119,000 in chips. Martins won most of those chips holding {a-}{a-} against an opponent’s {a-}{k-} and it was all up from there.

Joining Martins at the top of the chip counts will be 2010 Macau Poker Cup Championship winner Julian Hasse who finished on a very healthy 96,500. Martins and Hasse have surpassed the Day 1a chip leader and now sit at the top of the overall chip counts.

Also surviving Day 1a and still in fine shape includes recent APPT Seoul Final Table finisher Kenneth Wong, the reigning ANZ Player of the Year Danny Chevalier and Team PokerStars Pro's Vivian Im and Celina Lin.

Be sure to return tomorrow to continue following all the coverage from the Asia Pacific Poker Tour in Cebu as the PokerNews Live Reporting Team brings you all the action from the final and busiest Day 1 flight so far. It all starts at 12.10 pm local time, so don’t miss it!
