Last Break

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

The final 10-minute break of the day has just begun. There are 43 players currently still involved in the tournament. See you back here soon.

Lin No More

Celina Lin just swung by our blogging desk to let us know of her unfortunate demise from the APPT Cebu Main Event.

Lin was within sight of the cash but ran her ace-king into the pocket aces of the giant-killing Jacky Wang. Lin told us that a jack and queen appeared on the board to give her hope with a possible four-outer on the river, but it wasn’t to be.

“Oh well, time to relax!” sighed Lin as she departed the poker room.

And with that, there are no more Team PokerStars Pros remaining in the tournament.

Adam with a Pulse

Adam Monaghan looked across to the nearby table and held up his few remaining chips.

“Chris! Look!” exclaimed Monaghan with barely 1,500 in change. Chris Edgar gave a “thumbs up” in reply, but perhaps that could be the trigger for an epic comeback as Monaghan won the next pot to more than quadruple up.

He found himself with {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} against the {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} of David Steicke, which held through the board of {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

Monaghan is back to 8,000 and has a pulse once again.

Brutal Bust to Team Pro

The last hand of Raymond Wu's night began when David Steicke opened it up to 5,100 from early position. Sammy Huang made the call on his direct left and then it was on Raymond Wu in the small blind. Wu three-bet to 16,500 and Steicke got out of the way, while Huang made the call.

Flop: {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{a-Spades}

On the flop, Wu led for 16,500 and Huang popped it to 40,000. This was right around Wu's whole stack at this point and he stuffed his whole stack in. Huang obliged with a few chips extra and the two players turned their hands over.

Wu: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Huang: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}

A great chance for Wu to double-up came to a crashing halt as a {j-Clubs} hit the turn. The {2-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing and Wu left the table a little disgruntled. With that, Celina Lin is left waving the flag for PokerStars.

Wu Surviving

Team Team PokerStars Pro Pro Raymond Wu has been flying largely under the radar so far today, navigating his way through the field without being able to get himself back up to an average chip stack.

Wu tangled in a recent pot by calling a min-bet in the big blind to see a {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop. Both players checked and Wu splashed out 4,800 on the {K-Diamonds} turn. His opponent called before both players checked the {Q-Diamonds} river.
Wu opened {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for just ace-high which wasn’t enough to better his opponent’s {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a lowly pair of sevens.

Team Pro Update

Team PokerStars Pro's Celina Lin and Raymond Wu are seated at the same table, but their chip stacks couldn't be any different.

Wu is healthy on 70,000, winning some of those chips just a few moments ago when he three-bet out of the big blind and got two players to lay down their hands.

Lin is struggling as one of the short stacks in the field, but managed to shove all in a short while ago to pick up the blinds and antes.

Crisis Averted

Whenever a tournament director is called to a table, it’s usually a good sign that something interesting is going down. So when we saw the floor called to the table of Michael Kanaan, we scurried over to check it out.

Kanaan had raised the button the minimum to 3,600. Kua Wei Zhong was in the small blind and he three-bet to 8,000. Nothing out of the ordinary there. When Kanaan tried to four-bet to 14,100, that’s where there must’ve been some dispute about the minimum bet size.

Usually the minimum is the size of the previous raise, however we have seen some casinos enforce the rule that the minimum is the size of the previous bet. Some quick number crunching was performed and the raise stood. Zhong decided to make the call and they saw a flop of {6-Spades}{k-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Zhong checked and Kanaan’s bet of 16,000 was enough to take it down. Crisis averted.
