Sixiao Gaining Ground Early

When we came to Sixiao Li’s table there was a flop showing {7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Li was involved in a hand with one opponent. Li was first to act and opted to check. Her opponent then threw out a bet and before we could even see how much it was, the dealer had raked in the bet as Li had made it another 550 to go.

The player eventually made the call and the {3-Hearts} was dealt on the turn. This time both players would check and the {6-Clubs} would complete the board on the river. It didn’t take long for Li to flick out 1,500, with that bet making her opponent cringe. Eventually the player would opt to fold as Li took down the handy little pot early.

A Taste of Asia

Yesterday we saw a field that was predominantly comprised of PokerStars qualifiers from all corners of the world. Today’s field is bigger but there is a notable shift towards players based in the Philippines, Macau and throughout Asia.

Some of those we’ve spotted include Bobo Chen, Sparrow Cheung, Kitty Kuo, Sixiao Li, Kim Gap Young, Charles Lam, Ted Wang, Daren Yoon, Mikael Rosen, Darren Judges, Minh Nguyen, PokerStars sponsored Cathy Hong, reigning ANZ Player of the Year Danny Chevalier and reigning Asia Player of the Year Hung-sheng “Shaq” Lin.

We also have two members of Team PokerStars here this afternoon with Celina Lin and defending APPT Cebu champion Vivian Im.

How it Will Work

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

With yesterday's early finish setting precedent for today's proceedings, Day 1b will feature six 60-minute levels.

The players start with 20,000 in chips each and blinds begin at 50-100. It's a very generous structure and with plenty of tough poker players already spotted in the field, prepare for some great poker.

It's Time For More Cebu Action

The chips and felt at APPT Cebu
The chips and felt at APPT Cebu

Welcome back to the live coverage of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour from Cebu in the Philippines. Today will see the Day 1b action of the APPT Cebu Main Event kick into full swing from midday today.

Yesterday saw just 51 players take to the felt in what ended up being a shorter than expected day. That didn't mean the poker was any less tough though as Han Ruo Goh managed to become the Day 1a chip leader. He finished on 84,300 and that's the amount all the players will be chasing today.

We can't be 100% certain, but it is extremely likely that today's number will eclipse the 51-player field from yesterday. If we were the betting kind, our money would be on a field somewhere closer to 100 entrants.

It is expected that Team PokerStars Pro's Celina Lin and Vivian Im will both be at the tables today and looking to make a deep run - especially Im. Readers may remember that Im took down this event in season four, becoming the first and only lady to win an APPT title. Let's see if she can make it back-to-back victories.

Make sure to keep your eyes locked to your screens as the PokerNews Live Reporting Team again brings you all the action from the floor of the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu. It all begins in just over an hour at 12:15 pm local time.
