Bubble King Alive

Antonio Martins put his newly-found chips to work with a raise from the button with Mikael “Bubble King” Rosen making the call in the big blind.

Both players checked the {4-Clubs} {6-Spades} {q-Clubs} flop before Rosen led for 1,100 on the {7-Diamonds} turn. Martins made the call and the {3-Clubs} completed the board. Rosen released a second bullet worth 1,900 to give Martins a decision. He eventually committed to a call but mucked when Rosen showed {5-Hearts} {9-Hearts} for a rivered straight.

Cheung Doing Fine

Sparrow Cheung has had a bit of a roller coaster day, but its seeming to level out at the moment, with a nice recent hand going his way.

It all started when a middle position player opened it up to 700. Cheung made the call on the button and Antoine Amourette also called from the big blind.

Flop: {8-Spades} {8-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}

When Amourette checked, the original agressor shoved all in for just under 5,000. Cheung made the call and Amourette got out of the way.

Cheung: {a-Hearts} {a-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds} {j-Spades}

The {5-Clubs} on the turn would leave Cheung's opponent drawing dead as Cheung took down the win and a nice little pot to go along with it,

Wong Doing Right

Kenneth Wong has been doing well over on his table, managing to build his stack to a very respectable 50,000. We recently saw him raise it up to 2,500 preflop after two opponents limped. One player would make the call and watch as a {9-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {k-Spades} flop was dealt. The player checked to Wong and when he bet 2,000, Wong would take down the pot.

Set, Set, Set

We have a new chip leader in the room after a cooler of a hand has shot Antonio Martins to a stack of 75,000 half way through the fourth level of the day.

“The hand played itself,” was the comment from the table afterwards, and they were right, as neither player was ever going to get away from their flopped set.

With a limp and a raise to 1,025 in front of him, Martins called from the small blind to see a flop of {3-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {2-Spades} . Martins checked and the preflop limper decided to lead for 1,200. The cutoff raised to 2,900 but Martins cold-called once again as a big pot was brewing.

It was back on the limper and he wasn’t playing slow anymore as he bumped it to a sizable 9,200. The cutoff player sniffed out a big hand and made a reluctant fold, of what he later revealed was pocket queens, as Martins took some time before calling for the third time in the hand.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and this is where it was time to strike. Martins checked and then moved all in over the top of the bet of 7,500. His opponent quickly called but saw the bad news as his {2-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} had been crushed by Martins’ {9-Spades} {9-Clubs} .

There were no miracle one-outers on the river as the {A-Diamonds} sent the unlucky soul to the rail as Martins ballooned his stack into the chip lead.

Antoine Going Strong

Not many players have managed to amass a big chip stack here on Day 1b, but so far Antoine Amourette has been quite active in working up to almost 40,000 in chips. We witnessed Amourette three bet and take down two pots preflop within one orbit just a short while ago. No player at the table wanted to play back at him and now here we are.

Bobo So Slow

Bobo Chen is continuing his tanking ways yet again. A recent hand we witnessed saw Chen slowly limp the button preflop before taking to a {7-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} flop against the small blind player and Minh Nguyen in the big blind.

The player first to act checked and Nguyen then bet 650. This is when Chen decided to tank yet again. Nguyen tried not to react, but there was a slight cringe, as there has been from much of the table when Chen takes so long to act. Eventually Chen folded and so too did the big blind as Nguyen took down the small pot.

Bye Bye Hong

Cathy Hong, girlfriend of Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, has just been spotted making her way to the rail.

It was recalled to us that Hong got her last chips in on the river but her opponent had already made a straight holding ten-nine. Hong didn’t show as she slid her cards into the muck.

Amourette Flushing

When we came to Antoine Amourette's table there was a board showing {q-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {5-Hearts} and Amourette was first to act against one opponent. The European player flicked out 2,600 and his opponent called as one last card was dealt on the river.

River: {9-Spades}

Amourette would continue his betting here, throwing out another 6,500. His opponent made a quick call and then folded his cards just as quickly when Amourette turned over {9-Hearts} {8-Hearts} for a turned flush.
