The penultimate starting flight of the inaugural PLO GIANT kicked off at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the 2018 World Series of Poker and drew a total of 565 entries. After 21 levels, just 33 players were left standing at the conclusion of Day 1d play. It was Hero Aguiluz (1,275,000) who bagged more chips than any other, claiming the chip lead.

Close behind him are Australian player Daniel Laidlaw (1,050,000) and Argentinian Gonzalo Mercade (1,045,000). However, all of them are still trailing Day 1a chip leader Pete Arroyos, who will take 1,757,000 chips out of the bag when Day 2 play begins.

Several familiar faces advanced alongside the chip leaders, including Vincent Moscati (590,000), Matt Stout (500,000), Men Nguyen (470,000) and Pete Chen (175,000).

Although not all the fan favorites were fortunate enough to survive the day, several of them made the money before departing, including Ben Yu, Jonathan Zarin, and Roland Israelashvili. Quite a few of the more well-known players who took to the felt in this flight left empty-handed, including Tommy Le, Kyle Bowker, Allen Kessler, Ankush Mandavia, and Chris Ferguson.

The money bubble broke without hand-for-hand play since Dutch Boyd busted during the hand it was reached.

The final starting flight will begin Sunday, July 1st, at 7 p.m. Day 2 play begins July 2nd at 2 p.m. with all Day 1 survivors and the remainder of the field is scheduled to play down to a winner on July 3rd.
